System Upgrades

Did you know that certain software changes on your computer may require an upgrade to your hardware?

Spyware

Has your computer been running slower?  You may not need to replace it.  Chances are your system has been infected with spyware that is causing your system to slow down.  Spyware and Adware are programs that get installed on your computer without your knowledge.  These programs run in the background and track your computer activities.  Spyware can present security risks and cause your once speedy computer to slow down to a crawl.

Note that some Spyware removal programs are actually Spyware themselves.  Consult with our technicians to determine which Spyware removal programs are the best for you.

Viruses/Worms and Other malicious software

Viruses, worms, keystroke loggers and other malicious programs can infect your computer without your knowledge and can cause serious damage to your files and even prevent your computer from starting up.  They also present a serious security risk to your personal information.

Make sure your virus scanning software is current and that it is set to automatically update.  If you think your computer has been infected please call or email us for assistance on how to clean up your system.

Phishing

Phishing (pronounced fishing) is a one of the largest security threats.  These threats appear in the form of a genuine looking email message that has a link to a web site.  These messages appear 'official' with content that the company is updating it's records and needs you to confirm your personal information.  Even when clicking on the link the web site may look official when in fact it is a bogus destination with the goal of capturing your personal information to commit identity fraud!

Reputable companies do NOT ask you to follow an email link to update your personal information.  Banks, credit card companies, eBay, PayPal, insurance companies and other financial organizations do NOT use links embedded in an email for you to update your account information.  It is best to delete these 'official looking' emails.
